Today, February 21st is International Mother Language Day.
Communities across the world are calling attention to, and celebrating their mother tongues today. Intersecting with the International Year of Indigenous Languages, we are reminded that there are over 70 indigenous languages spoken in Canada. Many of these languages are in danger of extinction, but there is a lot of very interesting work going on to revive and revitalize these languages for a new generation of language speakers and knowledge keepers.
