One of the bloggers I like to follow is Stephanie Evergreen from Evergreen Data. She offers a lot of great tips. Lately she wrote an article Why No One Is Reading Your Report.
Here’s the punchline: It’s way too long!!!
While this is true, it’s also strangely true that often you can only find a very brief summary. Sometimes it’s great to have the highlights, but if anyone wants to learn from what you’ve done, they need more detail. That’s why I like the 1-3-25 model:
- 1 page handout
- 3 page executive summary
- 25 page report
