Reshaping How We Understand the Impact of the Arts was a gathering of 250 arts and culture leaders in Toronto that took place this past September. They gathered to hear a presentation by Geoffrey Crossick about the seminal cultural research he co-lead with Patrycja Kaszynska - one of the most in-depth attempts made yet to understand the value of arts and culture and the difference they make to people and society. This accessible research is an incredibly helpful resource to inform conversations we are having in Ontario about how we understand the value of arts and culture.
The keynote was recorded to share with a wider Canadian audience, as was the subsequent panel discussion that provided Canadian context to the research featuring Gaetane Verna (The Power Plant), Christina Loewen (Opera.ca), Barry Hughson (The National Ballet) and Owais Lightwalla (Why Not Theatre) and moderated by David Maggs (Gros Morne Summer Music).
This event was a collaboration between Toronto Arts Council & Foundation, Metcalf Foundation, OCAD University and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
